Elk Grove is located in Sacramento County About 11 miles south of  Sacramento.  Established in the late 1800's, Elk Grove was once a supply route for gold miners, a

commute for mail service, agriculture, and a stage stop.  Fast forward to the year 2000 and it has become incorporated and known today as "California's new city of the 21st Century!"

 

Elk Grove is booming with the latest city limit signs boasting a population of 121,609.   Shopping and eating out is a favorite past time for Elk Grove residents as new shopping centers, restaurants and new business is opening everywhere to accommodate the new growth.  Elk Grove is the second fastest growing area in the region and yet it still retains its small town atmosphere.  Moderately hot summers, wet winters, and an annual average precipitation of 21.66 inches, (weather) round out a wonderful community with something to offer everyone.

 


Elk Grove offers a variety of outdoor recreation.  Elk Grove Regional Park is the largest County Park in the area.  Towering shade trees and immense lawn areas offer a great picnic destination amidst this 127 acre facility.  Enjoy a friendly game of horseshoes or utilize the softball, baseball, or soccer fields as well as volleyball courts and swimming center.  An additional 83 parks are available throughout the surrounding Elk Grove neighborhoods. 

         

One of the newest features of the community includes the Barbara Morse Wackford Community & Aquatic Complex, a state-of-the-art facility suitable for hosting small and large events.  It has 5 meeting rooms, a preschool room, teen center, gymnasium, competition pool, recreation pool, and a splash pool.  This community complex is located adjacent to and part of the Laguna Community Park.  Here we have a soccer field, a softball field, volleyball courts, a jogging and bike trail, play equipment, a picnic area, barbecues and a dog park.

                          
 
Other area recreation includes boating, camping, water skiing, fishing, three health care facilities, indoor roller skating arenas, golf courses (Emerald Lakes Golf Center and Valley Hi Country Club among other driving ranges) and loads more!  The Consumnes River Preserve, Stone Lakes
