Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova celebrated city hood for the first time on July 1, 2003, becoming Sacramento County's seventh city.  The General Plan and blueprint for the city has been in the making ever since with council meeting, public hearing, and environmental impact report.  Resources of the city are assessed and given to
careful planning, looking at the long range development of the land and its overall use and how that impacts its people and their quality of life.

Rancho Cordova's founding history has much to do with agriculture as do so many other Central Valley locations.  In addition to that it has played a role in military service with the presence of Mather Field Air Force Base.

Folsom Boulevard has been given special attention and a specific plan, called The Folsom Boulevard Specific Plan.  This theme has been a top priority since the city's incorporation and is a means to looking at ways to create this Boulevard as a dynamic place for living, working and playing.  Such consideration will be given to new restaurants, unique shops, great entertainment, inviting neighborhoods and other public spaces.
